Belgium is a small country with beautiful cities and landscapes. This means it has a lot to offer hikers. From the rolling hills of Flanders to the dramatic cliffs of the Ardennes, there are hikes to suit all abilities and levels. Here are five unforgettable hikes in Belgium:

1. Hautes Fagnes

The Haute Fagnes is a unique area close to the city of Liege in the French part of Belgium. This is an intermediate hike through the high moorlands of the Ardennes. The scenery is stunning, with rolling hills, forests, and small streams. There are also plenty of opportunities to see wildlife, such as deer, wild boar, and birds of prey.

2. The GR 56

The GR 56 is a long-distance trail that runs from the Belgian coast to the Ardennes. The route is well-marked and easy to follow, making it a good choice for first-time hikers. There are plenty of places to stop along the way, so you can take your time and enjoy the scenery.

The GR hiking trail, also known as Grande Randonnée, is a network of long-distance footpaths that traverses through some of the most breathtaking and diverse landscapes of Europe. Spanning across various countries, this extensive trail system offers hikers an unparalleled opportunity to explore the region's natural beauty, from the rugged mountains and pristine forests to rolling hills and picturesque coastlines.

3. The Semois Valley

The Semois valley is another beautiful valley in the Ardennes. This hike follows the Semois River, which winds its way through forests, meadows, and farmland. There are also some impressive rock formations along the way. It is a popular trail for hikers and trail runners. Due to the water levels, this trail is ideal for hikes from April until October.

4. The Ravel Trail

The Ravel is a former railway line that has been converted into a walking and cycling trail. The trail is flat and easy to follow, making it a good choice for families. There are also some interesting historical sites along the way, such as old railway tunnels and bridges. The Ravel Trail 150 from Jemelle to Houyet is located in the province of Namur. It is considered an easy walk.

5. Rock Hike near Falmignoul

This impressive hike near Dinant is one of the most stunning in the region. It is quite hard so make sure you have hiked before when you embark on this challenging but wonderful trail and just enjoy!!

These are just a few of the many unforgettable hikes that can be found in Belgium. With its varied terrain and stunning scenery, Belgium is a great place to get out and explore the great outdoors.
