Who does not love Barcelona? The Spanish city is thé city trip spot of the last decade. It is warm, fun, colourful and relatively cheap compared with its bigger European sisters Paris and London. The sun and delicious food are a welcome benefit.
After many lockdowns and spending most of the time with my boyfriend in a South London flat I was in need of some proper girls’ energy and vitamin D. A girls trip to Barcelona it is. I take you with me!
Brunch
A girls trip means food, lots of food, and especially brunch. We tried and can approve the following places for you:
- Eixampling for a kitsch breakie
- Brunch & Cake for the most popular and maybe best brunch.
- Malcriada for a quiet and delicious morning
- CoCo House for a beachy breakie
- The Egg Lab for a hipster brunch
In these gems we enjoyed, think; oat cappuccinos, chai lattes, pancakes, and smoothie bowls. When we brunch we do it like queens.
Dinner
We also had tapas, paella and lots of other good food. Due to the corona pandemic we did not always end up in the places we wanted but we found had some delicious dinners at:
Please do skip dinner at Plaza Real or the Ramblas. Even though it may be tempting and the Spanish architecture can be mesmerizing at these places, the food is often expensive and not good.
Cocktails and Mocktails
With its good weather and beachy vibes you can get your drinks on rooftop bars the full year-round. Amazing isn’t it? Especially when you live in rainy London! We danced the night away at:
Touristy Must-Sees
Even though I have been to Barcelona before, there are always some places I visit over and over again. Just because of their vibe and magic. Discover my favourite spots:

- Llius Compais Arc de Triomf

- Mercat de La Boqueria (for the fresh fruits)
- Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona
The list of must-sees in Barcelona is long. Do not plan your city trip schedule too full, so you have enough time to enjoy all the delicious food and the marvelous beach.
Hidden gems
Every city has them, hidden gems that you only know because, well, you found out one way or another, via mouth-to-mouth communication, that old friend, or now this blog. My favourite one in Barcelona by far is Bunkers del Carmel. From these bunkers you have a crazy view of the city. It is highly recommended to organize your own apero at this hidden gem during sunset. Thank me later!
