A Second Start

With this blog, I reintroduce Wandering Wilma, the blog I started 6 years ago. 6 Years ago!!! Well, I guess time flies by. It’s cliché but so true, especially when you get older. I started this blog the keep family and friends updated about my travels and adventures in Bangkok, Thailand. I kept writing while packing my bags to go study in Valencia, Spain. After, I wrote now and then but things slowed down. Until the Summer of 2021…

Nonetheless, I still and always have been wanting to become a writer, and a dancer but life happens. That I will not become a professional dancer is clear by now. I still can become a writer. While university and work life happened, I regularly announced to everyone who wanted to hear it that I was going to start blogging again. I never did.

The thing is not that I stopped wandering. The contrary, the less I wrote the more I was doing. I lived in a tent in Zambia for 6 weeks. I lived, learned and worked in Kampala, Uganda. And, I followed love to London. I never have had as much to write about as the past couple of years. Readers, you do hear it. We have to catch up. I have a lot to write and I have no more excuses. The past years, and especially during the Covid crisis, I literally had no excuses to not write. I just did not have the courage, the guts. What if it wasn’t good enough? What if nobody would read my blog? I know my blog doesn’t look beautiful like many of these travel blogs. Well, in the end does it matter?

Even if only my mom reads my blog and loves it, it will be enough. I will have succeeded. Every other person getting some tips or just enjoying my writing, will be a plus. I love writing, and Wilma loves wandering. And that is what this blog is and will be about. There may not appear a blog every week but it also may. Who knows, we will see.

2 hours ago I left my new home in London. Yes, you read that well; London. I live in the most vibrant city of this planet. There is literally always something to do, somewhere to be, someone to meet. And I could not be bothered to write about it. Let’s change that! London has lots to write about and so does the rest of the world. While the plane lands in Faro, Portugal I promise I will at least do my best, for myself and my mom. I promise to regularly write about Wilma’s adventures, cosy coffee shops and the most beautiful beaches from Maui to Lagos.

Keep on wandering.

Love,

W.
